The holidays have us all daydreaming about our favorite things and James Dashner, author of The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials, is no exception. Dashner stopped by Suvudu and revealed to us his favorite ten movies of 2010, some of which you can still catch in theaters. Personally, we can’t wait for The Maze Runner to hit the big screen – though it’s still a while away – as it’s currently in development and will be directed by Catherine Hardwicke of “Twilight” fame. In the meantime, take a look at Dashner’s picks: 1. Inception: This is No. 1 by a long shot. This is easily in the top five movies of all time for me. Were there flaws? Maybe, I honestly don't know. But it was fascinating, exhilarating, mind-bending, unique, clever, well written and acted, brilliantly directed. Christopher Nolan is my hero. 2. Toy Story 3: One of the best animated films ever. It made me cry, and that puts it in the top ten 3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1: I absolutely love the HP movies (as well as the books of course), and I think they just keep getting better and better. These people have become real to me, and the only thing I can compare that to is Lord of the Rings. 4. Shutter Island: Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese. Need I say more? 5. Tangled: An unexpected surprise. I have no doubt this will be the next Disney film to be on Broadway. 6. The Town: Ben Affleck has solidified himself as the real deal when it comes to directing. Everything about this film can be summed up by one word: authentic. 7. The Social Network: I must be getting old, because I can now be completely mesmerized by a movie that has no action whatsoever. A fascinating story, brilliantly presented. 8. Paranormal Activity 2: I don't know what it is about these films. Obviously, I KNOW it's not real. But it's presented as if it is, and somehow they pull it off because I am completely creeped out the entire time. 9. The Wolfman: This one didn't get much fanfare, which is too bad. Gory and frightening, but the acting and gothic setting is what really sealed the deal for me. 10. Catfish: The most fascinating documentary you'll ever see. I won't say anything else because I don't want to spoil it. But just so ya know, it's NOT about catfish at all. Want more favorites from our authors?
